Amanda specialises with horse riders, combining her extensive hypnotherapy, coaching and NLP skills with her unique understanding of the difficulties faced by riders and those working with horses. Amanda initially started practicing as a hypnotherapist, counsellor and NLP practitioner in 1996 and has also worked within the NHS and with North Devon Victim Support.

She has been teaching riders for the past 30 years and in the last 20 years has been incorporating her Hypnotherapy, NLP and Confidence Coaching methods within the riding lessons.

Amanda has been riding for most of her life and has raced abroad in Pro/Am Races in Singapore, Malaysia and Penang and has represented Singapore in the Asian Horse Trials in Thailand and Singapore. After attending Moat House Equestrian Center in Kent for her British Horse Society exams, she worked for Olympic rider and trainer, Bertie Hill, backing and training young horses and teaching riders from overseas. Amanda has bred and trained her own horses, including TB, Sports Horses and American Quarter Horses.
She now regularly competes in BD affiliated dressage and show jumping events around the South West of England.

In September 2012, Amanda was part of the South West Home International Team competing at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre with her horse Drayford Django (Pedro).

In Amanda's own words:
"I've always had a great love of horses and riding since I was very young. Unfortunately, I had a particularly bad fall and was unable to ride for a number of years. When I decided I would like to resume this fantastic sport, I really struggled with my confidence. Initially I found it difficult just to get back on a horse, but I pushed myself even though I was very apprehensive and often felt sick with anxiety. I had, by then, started my hypnotherapy training and knew that hypnotherapy was going to be the way forward".

"I spent a considerable time trying to find a self-hypnosis product that met my needs. It was important for me to find something that was produced by a therapist who was able to understand the ‘feel' of being on a horse, who understood the whole range of difficulties that can arise, not only when riding and jumping generally, but also when competing. I was also looking for a self-hypnosis CD that would be able to enhance the riding skills I already possessed".

"I decided to combine all the experience that I have acquired with horses and competing over the years with my hypnotherapy and sports coach training and started producing CDs for many of my riding clients. The feedback I had was very favourable, so I decided to start The Confident Horse Rider".

Amanda travels to venues throughout the UK giving 'Riding With Confidence' talks to Riding Clubs and groups and running Confidence Booster Workshops to groups and individuals.  Amanda also runs clinics on a whole range of different activities for riders to improve their confidence whether on flatwork, show jumping or cross country jumping.  Earlier in 2013 she was invited to be part of the Equestrian Advice Team for Hay-Net, the UK's main eqine social blogging network.
